Tyler and Jaime Rovenstine, owners of Monarch , 1,731 square-foot coffee shop located in The Ambassador, at Broadway and Knickerbocker Street.
The name, Monarch, plays off Kansas City’s other royal names — the Kansas City Royals, the American Royal, the Kansas City Kings, the Kansas City Monarchs and the Empress Theatre.
When you enter the coffee house you are greeted with a “bright, clean and classic” decor in white, black and gold with mint accents, wood floors and large windows looking out on bustling Broadway traffic.
The team at Canaan Stone Works, worked with Wess O’Laughlin, with CCS , and Jaime Rovenstine to determine the design, fabrication, and installation of Calacatta Vicenza quartz for the interior “tops.” Note; the pedestal tables, counters and window sills of the shop are all topped with this beautiful and easy-care quartz.
Another surprise is located in the back of the shop, where guests will step down into The Drawing Room. The couple has added an additional 2,300-square-foot room as an event or meeting area. “The event space will feature two bathrooms, a projector and screen and a door that leads up to the lobby of the apartments located above the shop, giving the residents easy access to their morning coffee and creating a built-in clientele for us,” Tyler explains.
Our aim is to provide a new cafe experience: where the coffee is excellent, the service is intentional, the space is inspiring, and your visit is satisfying and comfortable. We are committed to being a welcoming and inclusive anchor in our community.
Monarch is located in the historic Valentine neighborhood of Kansas City, in the recently renovated Ambassador Building at 3550 Broadway, Kansas City, MO, 64111
